Sabah has identified 12 exceptional agro-based products to boost rural tourism.
The selection, made by the state rural tourism joint steering committee, highlights unique and sustainable practices.
The products include Mount Kinabalu Coffee and Sunduan Pisompuruan Everything Pineapple in Kota Belud, Tampakan Fish Farm, Gombizau Honey Bee Farm in Kudat, and Saujana Hill in Kota Marudu.
Others are Irunji Agro Tourism in Lahad Datu, Selagon Agro Farm in Beaufort, and various locations like Sabah Agriculture Park, Padas Farmstay, Yong Farmstay, Yit Foh Tenom Coffee, Fatt Choi Coffee in Tenom, and Desa Cattle Dairy Farm in Ranau.
Collaboration between state ministries aims to enhance the visibility of Sabah’s rural tourism products, addressing infrastructure needs, and promoting regulated lodging options for a safe and authentic experience.
The state Assistant Tourism, Culture, and Environment Minister, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, expressed confidence in Sabah’s potential to become a prime agro-based tourism destination, with sustainable growth and positive impacts on local communities.
The committee called for improved amenities and road infrastructure to attract more visitors to these unique destinations.
