The BigSabah Sale has become a key platform for promoting local products and fostering international business collaborations.
Tourism, Culture, and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew emphasised the event’s role in boosting the tourism and business events (BE) industries, attracting visitors, creating jobs, and stimulating the local economy.
She spoke during the launch of the 2nd International BigSabah Sale 2024, Sabah’s largest consumer expo, at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).
Liew highlighted the significance of the event in promoting cross-border trade, cultural exchange, and tourism development.
Organising Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of SICC, Datuk Dr Rosmawati Lasuki, said the event features 315 booths with over 100 vendors from Sabah, Sarawak, West Malaysia, and international participants from Brunei, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Among the international presence, there are 30 booths from the Brunei Consumer Fair, 10 from the Thai Pavilion, and special pavilion organisations like JHEWA, MIDE, and PERNAS.
Debutant GM Klang, Malaysia’s largest wholesale centre, is showcasing a variety of wholesale products with 10 booths.
This year’s event offers diverse product segments, including gourmet food, fashion and lifestyle, and home living and décor.
Additional highlights include esports and singing competitions, live cooking demonstrations by top chefs, and culinary workshops for local schoolchildren aged 16 to 17.
Registered visitors can win exciting prizes, including a Honda Wave Alpha CX-110 and AI Smart Piano, with daily lucky draws featuring prizes like a 55″ LG TV.
The event runs from 25 to 27 October, open daily from 10am to 10pm, and is expected to attract 6,000 visitors each day.
