Sabah is making strides in promoting itself as a prime destination for international business and tourism.
Kota Kinabalu City Hall Mayor, Dato’ Sri Dr Sabin Samitah, highlighted that the recent 2nd BigSabah Sale demonstrated strong interest from neighbouring countries, reinforcing efforts to position Kota Kinabalu as a hub for regional trade and cultural exchange.
Held from 25 to 27 October at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), the event attracted hosted buyers from Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Penang.
These visitors engaged with local business event organisers to explore opportunities that could extend beyond the sale itself, promoting lasting partnerships beneficial to Sabah’s tourism and economy.
SICC Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Rosmawati Lasuki, remarked on the event’s role in enhancing Sabah’s international profile.
“BigSabah is more than a consumer sale; it celebrates Sabah’s potential on the global stage,” she stated.
She emphasized that the event fosters valuable connections between local and international businesses, promoting knowledge sharing and resource collaboration.
The BigSabah Sale showcased Sabah’s unique market offerings and positioned the state as an inviting destination for both tourism and trade.
By fostering an environment of cultural exchange and economic collaboration, the event has solidified its role in advancing Kota Kinabalu’s vision of becoming a leading ASEAN hub.
This annual gathering is anticipated to boost Sabah’s reputation, paving the way for more strategic tourism and business partnerships across the region.
