The Asia Triathlon Cup 2024 will be held on 2 November 2024 at Tanjung Aru Beach, featuring 63 elite athletes from 13 countries and 150 age-group athletes.
The competition includes 43 men and 20 women from Japan, Australia, the United States, Great Britain, Uzbekistan, and various Southeast Asian nations.
They will compete in a gruelling multi-discipline event encompassing swimming, cycling, and running.
“The Asia Triathlon Cup is more than just a race; it is an opportunity to showcase the beauty, culture, and hospitality of Sabah and to strengthen Kota Kinabalu’s position as a global sports tourism hub,” said Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew.
“With the eyes of the international sports community on Sabah, we are excited to once again host this world-class event that celebrates the spirit of competition and promotes our state as an adventure and nature destination,” she added.
The ministry aims to leverage this event to foster long-term interest in Sabah among international travellers and sports enthusiasts.
With scenic race routes set against the stunning backdrop of the South China Sea and Kota Kinabalu’s natural landmarks, the 2024 event promises a unique experience for both participants and spectators.
