SICC staged 2,737 events since its opening

The Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) has hosted 2,737 events since its opening, including 989 international events, reflecting Sabah’s growing appeal as a competitive events destination.

This represents stronger partnerships, growing regional connectivity and increasing confidence in what Sabah has to offer, its chief executive officer Datuk Dr Rosmawati Lasuki said.

SICC also recorded 30,172 diners during its Resepi Nusantara Asian Buffet from Feb 26 to March 18, 2026.

The figures reflect the spirit of Ramadan and reconnection among communities, she said during the convention centre’s Hari Raya celebration.

Also present was Yayasan Sabah director Datuk Seri Ghulamhaidar Khan Bahadar.

“We were truly encouraged to see many returning multiple times to share this experience with others,” Rosmawati said.

She said the response reinforced SICC’s role not just as a business events venue, but as a platform that brings people together through shared cultural and culinary experiences.

Looking ahead, she said SICC will organise the BigSabah Sale from Oct 30 to Nov 1 as a marketplace for regional trade and engagement.

About 650 booths will be featured, including a diverse mix of businesses, SMEs, gourmet and specialty food operators.

The event aims to promote the BIMP-EAGA growth corridor by offering opportunities for cross-border trade, market entry and business expansion, she said.

Rosmawati also announced the appointment of Veronica Ngagasegaran as the new director of sales and marketing to further strengthen industry partnerships.
