Former tourism, culture and environment minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew called for Chinese New Year 2026 to mark a new beginning in fostering a more peaceful and progressive environment for Sabah.
She encouraged the embrace of new hopes, aspirations and opportunities, urging people to be anticipative, proactive and enterprising in living up to the expectations of the Year of the Fire Horse.
She said 2026 is expected to bring rapid change and teem with opportunities, according to feng shui experts.
“In Chinese culture, the horse symbolises speed, physical power, strength and resilience, which translate into fast and decisive actions in addressing challenges.
“In fact, it is observed that the state government adopts these qualities as it seriously tackles current issues for long-term solutions,” Liew said in her Chinese New Year message.
The new government’s post-election strategic actions and initiatives reflect the dynamism of a horse, she added.
Liew also pledged to continue serving the people in other capacities.
From the perspective of Visit Malaysia 2026, she called on Malaysians in Sabah to welcome tourists with open arms and treat them with respect.
“Sabahans are widely known to be courteous, friendly and hospitable. Do make our visitors feel at home while they bask in the ‘sun, sea and sand’,” she said.
