Holiday Inn Express starts operation starting December 21

KOTA KINABALU: The newest hotel in the capital city here, Holiday Inn Express Kota Kinabalu City Centre will open its door to welcome guests on December 21, amid the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.

Its cluster manager for Holiday Inn Express Kota Kinabalu City Centre and Holiday Inn Express Singapore Orchard Road, Najeeb Kurungottu said they are looking forward to the exciting soft opening as this will be their pioneer InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) hotel in East Malaysia.

“Our brand is very strong in China and IHG Holiday Express also has its presence in South Korea. However, in the meantime we are looking at the domestic markets before the opening of the international borders.

“Once the domestic flight is start flying in to Sabah, we will be looking at the whole of Malaysia markets,” Najeeb said.

He also assured that the hotel management is implementing the IHG very own ‘Clean Promise’ programme which was rolled out globally from June 1, 2020 to heightened the cleanliness standards amid the pandemic.

The business strategy of the hotel is to be the first touch point for business and leisure travellers before they start going out to their meeting venues and touristic destinations.

The hotel is sited just 15-minute drive from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, and within short walking distance of shopping malls, local attractions and many more.

The 10-storey hotel is boasts with 250 rooms comprising of queen and twin-bedded rooms, with the option of rooms with a sofa bed that comfortably fit up to three guests.

Other amenities that the guests can enjoy during the stay includes 24 hours self service laundry, fitness centre and business centre as well as cafe and bar, and free high-speed internet.-HS
