This year’s Kaamatan Festival in Tuaran will be hosted by Shangri-La Rasa Ria in collaboration with the Unduk Ngadau and Randawi Tavantang committees.
The partnership aims to deepen cultural appreciation and strengthen Tuaran’s appeal as a heritage and sustainable tourism destination.
Unduk Ngadau commemorates the legend of Huminodun, while Randawi Tavantang reflects the community spirit of Tuaran.

The collaboration began with a registration exercise, drawing 25 Unduk Ngadau and nine Randawi Tavantang hopefuls from Tuaran, Tamparuli and Kiulu.
“We are grateful for the support from Rasa Ria,” said Tamparuli assistant district officer and coordinator Hannevy W. Harry.
“We hope this marks the start of a strong partnership between the Tuaran UNK/RTK committee and the hotel,” she said.

Rasa Ria general manager Fiona Hagan said the resort is committed to supporting the Tuaran community in its socio-cultural efforts.
“We support young ambassadors who carry the torch of our heritage, ensuring Tuaran’s culture continues to thrive in the modern world,” she said.
With the theme ‘Kaamatan: Harvesting Unity, Celebrating Harmony’, the collaboration coincides with Visit Malaysia 2026.

It sets a benchmark for how the private sector and cultural bodies can work together to preserve the community’s intangible heritage.
