Sabah is gearing up to host the Asia Triathlon Cup after a 22-year hiatus, in collaboration with the Malaysia Triathlon Association and sanctioned by World Triathlon.
The event is set for November 11, 2023, at Prince Philip Park, Tanjung Aru.
Datuk Christina Liew, Tourism, Culture, and Environment Minister, expressed excitement about the return of this prestigious event, highlighting Sabah’s growing prominence in triathlon and sports tourism.
The state’s natural beauty and hospitality are expected to leave a lasting impression on the global triathlon community.
The Asia Triathlon Cup is anticipated to draw skilled athletes from across Asia and beyond, solidifying Kota Kinabalu’s reputation as a premier sports destination.
Sabah’s commitment to triathlon is evident, with the last Asia Triathlon Cup hosted in 2001.
The president of the Malaysia Triathlon Association, Tony Tan Beng Hong, expressed confidence in the organisers, XMultisport Event.
The event schedule includes race pack collection on Nov 9-10, the Asia Triathlon Cup on Nov 11, KK City XMultisport Challenge Duathlon on Nov 12 (morning), and SESB Neon Night Run on Nov 12 (night), providing a unique blend of sporting excellence and community participation.
To cap off the festivities, the SESB KK City Neon Night Run promises a spectacular display of neon colors and energy, fostering a sense of camaraderie.
This event welcomes participants of all ages and fitness levels.
