The Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) is set to host a three-day Big Sabah Sale from Dec 15-17, featuring over 100 entrepreneurs, organisations, and departments.
Exhibitors will occupy more than 250 available spaces, promising mutual satisfaction, according to SICC Chief Executive Officer Datuk Rosmawati Lasuki.
“Visitors to the event are promised an extraordinary shopping experience, as it will include financial talks by Sabah Credit Corporation, guidance on protecting oneself from scammers by the police, and insights into branding and packaging by QPack Sabah,” said Rosmawati.
Activities to entertain visitors include the voice, bridal show, hobbytamu, cooking demo, e-sports, and explorace.
She added that an estimated 5,000 people are expected to visit the event each day.
The Consulate General of Indonesia (KJRI) in Kota Kinabalu has confirmed its participation.
Consul (Social and Cultural Function) Machdaniar Nisfah stated that Indonesia will showcase its authentic culinary delights, fashion designs for Muslim women by designers from Bandung, and cultural and singing performances by the Indonesian School Kota Kinabalu (SIKK) students.
For culinary activities, she said that Indonesia will bring in a special delegation led by Chef Winahyo from Jakarta to collaborate with Chef Firdaus of SICC.
They will prepare authentic Indonesian culinary delights, including rendang, gado-gado, satay, soto, nasi goreng, and typical Indonesian desserts.
The Indonesian delegation is part of the Indonesian National programme, promoting “Indonesia Spice Up The World,” she said.
For visitors interested in learning more about cooking authentic Indonesian culinary delights, the two chefs will hold a cooking demonstration and talk show on the evening of Dec 15, she said.
Regarding fashion design, the event will feature Hennie Noer’s classy collection.
SIKK students will present a welcoming dance called the Saman dance from Aceh and the plate dance from Padang, she said.
“Hopefully, the collaboration between Indonesia and Malaysia can further improve bilateral relations, both in the socio-cultural and economic fields, and strengthen the friendship between the two countries,” she said.
