M’sia target 3.2mil Muslim tourists

Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture aims to welcome 3.2 million Muslim tourists this year, part of their target of 16.1 million foreign tourists.

Malaysia is a renowned hub for Islamic tourism, supported by its position in Muslim Friendly Tourism and Hospitality (MFTH).

In 2022, Malaysia attracted 10.07 million international tourists, including 2.12 million Muslim tourists, spending RM5.37 billion.

The Deputy Minister, Khairul Firdaus speaking during the launch of Islamic Tourism Month 2023 in Perak, urged promotion of tourism packages among Muslim communities worldwide.

Malaysia has consistently excelled in the MFTH sector, as recognized by the SGIE Report 2022 and GMTI 2023. It also secured Muslim-Friendly Destination awards in 2023.
