The Jeju Tourism Organisation’s Project Manager for Global Marketing Group, Ian Rhee, has announced plans for direct charter flights from Jeju Island, South Korea to Kota Kinabalu in October 2023.

Rhee stated that the plans were proposed due to the positive response from travellers between the two destinations and the need to boost tourism recovery.

He noted that Kota Kinabalu is a well-known destination for Koreans, making it an attractive location for direct flights.

Rhee also mentioned that since the pandemic, travel trends have changed, with tourists seeking new contents, and travel agencies have to create special interest contents to meet the tourists’ demand.

Jeju Island is asking overseas travel agencies, especially those in Malaysia, to create tour packages based on its culture and traditions.

Rhee stated that Malaysians are their top market for Southeast Asia, followed by China, Taiwan, Japan, and Hong Kong for the North Asia market.

In addition, Jeju Air is planning to launch additional flights between Kota Kinabalu and Incheon to cater to the increasing demand for travel after three years of lockdown.

Rhee made the comments during a “Jeju Nature Fam Trip Tour” in Jeju Island.
