Christina is new Matta Sabah chairman for 2023-25

KOTA KINABALU: Christina Wahida Kong has been elected as the new Chairman of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Sabah Chapter for the 2023-2025 term.

The association 33rd annual general meeting held at a hotel here saw her succeed former Chairman, Lawrence Chin.

With over 2,000 active members, Matta is Malaysia’s largest national travel association, with more than 400 members in Sabah.

Christina, who is the Director of Sensational Holiday (Borneo) Sdn Bhd, has been an active member in Matta for many years.

She previously held the posts of Sabah honorary secretary and vice president of education and training at Matta national level.

Christina’s team includes Deputy Chairman Mohd Azlan Saleh Abd Salam of Dynamic Tours Travel & Incentive Sdn Bhd and Honorary Treasurer Masliza Mansor of Global Lepa Car Rental & Tours Sdn Bhd.

The committee members are Alex Chong of Al-Hakim Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, Vernon Loh of Borneo Holiday Planner Sdn Bhd and Raflan Alimuddin of Nhafirah Tours & Travel Rent a Car Sdn Bhd.

The team’s manifesto aims to contribute substantially to the growth and development of the travel and tourism industry in Sabah, said Christina.

She said they plan to create interaction and transparency with members on industry matters and work closely with relevant agencies and organistions with common interests.

Christina’s extensive experience in the industry and active involvement in Matta make her well-positioned to lead the Sabah Chapter and advance the interests of its members.

 The team is looking forward to promoting travel and tourism in Sabah and contributing to the industry’s success.

 Sabah’s tourism industry is a critical component of Malaysia’s economy, and Matta plays an important role in supporting its growth and development.

Christina and her team are well-equipped to take on this responsibility and contribute significantly to the industry’s success.
