Climbers to Mount Kinabalu can soon order fried chicken at the summit

KUNDASANG: Borenos Fried Chicken is planning to expand its delivery services to hikers at Mount Kinabalu.

The Borenos team made their way to the mountain on Oct 28, alongside its iconic mascot to see whether it was feasible for them to bring its signature dishes there.

“We have been receiving plenty of requests from customers to deliver all over Sabah, including Mount Kinabalu climbers that want to eat delicious fried chicken during their climb,” said Managing Director Janice Yeo.

“As Sabah’s first-ever local fast-food brand, we want to accomplish something new that other brands have not achieved before.

“And we want to show that we are willing to go the extra mile to deliver fresh fried chicken to our customers no matter where they are,” she said.

The recent climb saw windy and rainy weather at Mount Kinabalu. Despite the unfavourable weather, the team was able to conduct a recce for the route up the mountain successfully.

The delivery idea was inspired by recent viral news where a hiker ordered pizza for delivery at Mount Fuji in Japan. On Aug 20, a delivery man hiked up the mountain for 5 hours to deliver the pizza at the summit.

“We’re still finalising the details, and once everything is ready, we will announce it to all,” said Janice.
