Kunak can be next popular tourist spot

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Tourism Board has carried out various programmes to promote Kunak district as a tourist destination.

Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin said among others it has organised seminars and skill training for the local residents.

A dialogue session was also held among the Tourism Ministry and the Kunak District Tourism Action Council and all tourism operators.

The Tourism Ministry is also ready to offer upskilling and reskilling programmes to the local residents to enable them to compete both locally and internationally.

Among the potential tourist destinations that can be developed include Gua Madai, Sungang Hot Spring, Binuang Mud Pool, Darvel Lagoon Kampung Hampilan and many more.

Jafry keen to see Kunak become one of the best tourist destinations in Sabah, which in turn can help the local community to improve their economy.-HS
