The divine parade of the Nine Emperor Gods has added another tourism product to Sabah’s calendar of events.
Sabah Association of Tour and Travel Agents (SATTA) Chairman Datuk Seri Winston Liaw said the recent parade was not only a matter of religious faith but also a traditional cultural event and a tourism attraction.
“The parade organised by Nam Tien Kong Temple was enthusiastically received and achieved resounding success,” said Liaw, who also served as the event adviser and honorary president of the temple.

Nearly a thousand devotees arrived one after another to burn incense and pay their respects to the Nine Emperor Gods.
Liaw also took part in the worship, queuing to cross the Peace Bridge to pray for the people of Sabah, expressing hopes that everyone in the state will live better lives filled with health, peace, joy, and national prosperity.
Temple President Philip Chang said they are facing a shortage of RM5 million to complete the temple’s construction.
Liaw expressed hope that after the Sabah General Election next month, the new government would be able to assist the temple financially.
