The installation art by the bay to feature 15 creations

The 12th Installation Art by the Bay KK 2025 (IAKK2025) is set to showcase 15 upcycled sculptures from September 13 to 16 at Taman Chong Thien Vun here.

Carrying the theme Echoes of Sustainability Every Effort Matters, this annual community interactive eco art tourism event will open daily from 9am to 6pm, said IAKK2025 Art Co-Ordinator Christianne Goonting.

The four day event is expected to draw more than 3,000 visitors, with extended reach through online viewings at facebook.com/installationartkk.

“Visitors will see the park transformed into a creative art space using reusable and recyclable materials. The striking 3D artworks highlight the urgent need to reduce waste and embrace sustainable practices,” she said.

Awareness through art remains a powerful tool as each artwork carries a unique message on environmental concerns and sustainability, serving collectively as a reminder for people to make eco friendly choices in their daily lives, she added.

IAKK2025 hope to address pressing issues such as climate change, waste, and public health, using creativity as a catalyst for action, she said.

The event promotes eco art tourism as a signature attraction in Sabah while also fostering connections through an active online art community on Facebook and WhatsApp.

IAKK2025 is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment and Tourism Malaysia Sabah, in collaboration with Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK), Sabah Cultural Board, Sabah Art Gallery, and the Sabah Tourist Association.

Participants include schools, colleges, social groups, NGOs, artists, tour agencies, and international contributors from the United Kingdom and Singapore. A team from Denmark will also join via online participation.

Core committee members include Professor Dr Awangku Hassanal Bahar Pengiran Bagul (Universiti Malaysia Sabah), Christianne Goonting (Lavinia Private Art Gallery), Fauziahton Awang Samad (DBKK) and Pauline Chin (Truly Borneo).

Others are Sara Elisya Ahmad Shah, Eva Anani Baggai and Intan Munirah Hamzah from Sabah Art Gallery.
