The success of the Tumimung digital content event has prompted the Sabah Tourism Board (STB) to follow up with a creators’ camp.
STB Chairman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai made the proposal at the end of the homegrown event, which was held at a resort and featured 70 participants.
Attendees included social media content creators, product owners, and tourism association representatives who engaged in discussions and networking sessions.
Tumimung is a Dusun word meaning “to gather” or “berkumpul.”
Bangkuai stated that gathering creators in an outdoor setting would offer a more practical and unique experience for promoting Sabah.
He proposed expanding participation to include creators from Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia, thereby fostering collaboration and idea-sharing.
The two-day Tumimung event featured insightful panel discussions and sharing sessions.
Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Claudina Wong, and Traverse Tours’ Sales and Marketing Manager, Valentine G. Willard, discussed the benefits of working with content creators.
Content creators Mem Umie of Mem Umie Jalan-Jalan Travel and Tour and Pison Jaujip of Ropuhan Di Tanak Wagu shared their experiences of transitioning from content creators to product owners.
Other notable speakers included Zachary Yeoh of TikTok Malaysia, who presented a case study on ‘The Evolution of Content,’ Ann Osman, founder of the School of Ultimate Learning, who spoke on ‘Content Creation,’ and Adam Shamil, who discussed ‘Building Your Brand.’
The event ended today (28th September) with a fun outdoor city hunt activity.
