Sabah Community Based Tourism Fair 2024 will debut outside Sabah at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya, in October.
Sabah Tourism Board chairman, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, emphasizes the need for local operators to explore new markets.
The event aims to facilitate discussions on packaging rural destinations for broader appeal.
A Mentor and Mentee Programme will launch in Kiulu, fostering knowledge sharing among tourism operators.
Additionally, three Sabah rural operators are shortlisted for the Asean Tourism Standard Accreditation: Murug-Turug Eco Tourism, Lingga Eco Tourism, and Bambangan Lama Eco Tourism.
These operators met the 10 criteria emphasizing management, business direction, and economic impact documentation.
Winning the award will bolster Sabah’s international reputation in rural tourism.
