Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew welcomed the participation of seven tourism players from Sabah in ITB Berlin 2024 that begins on March 5.
They are Borneo Eco Tours, Rustic Borneo, Borneo Escapade, Borneo Trails, Tabin Wildlife Holidays, Sepilok Tropical Wildlife Adventure, and Borneo Nature Tours.
The Minister urged the industry stakeholders to maximise their participation in the world’s largest travel trade fair here by “selling” Sabah’s signature tourism products for the enhancement of the State as a preferred tourist destination.
Liew made the call during a dinner with the stakeholders here on Sunday.
“It is vital to widen one’s horizon by exploring new markets, and establishing collaboration with European counterparts or potential partners through productive engagements for mutual economic benefits,” she said.
Among the guests were the Honorary Secretary of the Federation of Rural Tourism Association Sabah (FeRTAS) Patricia Kitingan, General Manager of Tabin Wildlife Resort Lawrence Chin, Borneo Nature Tours Chief Operating Officer Freddie Coleman and Sales & Marketing Manager Alven Lim, and Sepilok Tropical Wildlife Adventure Senior Sales Manager Jessie Chin.
Also present were Assistant Minister cum Chairman of Sabah Tourism Board (STB) Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Josie Lai Mei Sing, Chairman of Sri Pelancongan Sabah Ken Pan Ying On, and STB Chief Executive Officer Julinus Jeffery Jimit.
