KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Association of Tour and Travel Agents (SATTA) will submit a proposal to the government to amend the Tourism Industry Act 1992 to keep abreast with current development.
“Many of the regulations are outdated and not suitable for current situation,” its chairman Dato’ Seri Winston Liaw said.
He said SATTA will contact the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents, and the Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association to discuss and get unanimous decisions on how the regulations should be amended.
The needs to amend the Act was among the issues raised during SATTA 27th annual general meeting cum election on March 14, which saw incumbent Liaw returned as chairman for the term 2020-22.
The others in the line-up are Peter Chin as vice chairman, Henry Yee (secretary), Ivory Chong (assistant secretary) and Tan Chee Hwa (treasurer cum committee member for Labuan).
The committee members for Kota Kinabalu are Grace Chee, Amity Wong, Lisa Chong, Donna Koh and Shim Vun Ming.
The rest are Liau Yee Kim (committee-Sandakan) and Francis Chong (committee-Tawau).-HS
