1,600 runners partake KK City night run

About 1,600 individuals participated in the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) KK City Neon Night Run, immersing themselves in the city’s vibrant nighttime ambiance.

Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, Datuk Christina Liew who officiated the run, highlighted that this event, featuring five neon challenge stations, marked the city’s inaugural neon night run.

The 3.5km route not only presented a physical challenge but also allowed runners to engage with the lively streets of Kota Kinabalu.

“Tonight, powered by SESB, the neon night run event takes us through five electrifying challenge stations, each offering more than meets the eye.

“The neon pillar isn’t just a captivating light display; it’s the beginning of a dazzling spectacle that awaits you.

“Picture the smoke and laser station – it’s not just about mist and light; it’s a sensory experience that will surely ignite your senses,” she said.

Looking ahead, she emphasized that the paint and bubble station weren’t just a splash of colors but a whimsical charm of bubbling joy.

At the bubble and foam glow station, runners would experience an enchanting atmosphere that would linger in their memories after the run.

Approaching the neon arch, she stated that it symbolizes not just the end of a run but a beginning – a newfound appreciation for the unity and spirit that brought everyone together.

“This run isn’t merely a race; it’s a celebration of our community’s unity and resilience.

“It’s a testament to the unwavering spirit of Kota Kinabalu, shining brightly amidst the challenges we’ve faced and overcome together,” she said.

Liew expressed gratitude to the organizers for orchestrating the electrifying event and thanked the participating runners for being part of this celebration.

She hoped that the event would be cherished by the runners, reflecting the indomitable spirit and vibrancy of Kota Kinabalu, a city filled with light and endless possibilities.
