Swepa plans to host Women CEO Summit 2024

The Sabah Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Association (Swepa) plans to host an international event next year, the Women CEO Summit.

Tourism, Culture, and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew welcomed the proposal and prepared to collaborate with Swepa.

“We welcome any form of collaborative effort for any meeting, incentive, convention, and exhibition (MICE) event for the common good.

“My Ministry will be most happy to render support within our capability, provided that your proposed project is eligible to get the necessary assistance,” said Liew during the Swepa 15th installation night at a hotel.

Liew was responding to a call by newly installed Swepa President Karen Wong (2023-2025), who sought support from the Tourism Minister to host next year’s business event.

Regarding the summit, Wong said Swepa is also committed to initiatives benefiting working-class women, offering opportunities for skills certification without disrupting their employment.

“Women leaders from neighbouring countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, and possibly the USA will gather.

“This summit aligns with our Swepa objective, aiming to share profound knowledge in women leadership and empowerment with our local women entrepreneurs and professionals in Sabah,” said Wong.

The event will host discussions on topics such as women’s needs, aspirations, and well-being, she said.

Wong said Swepa immediate past president (2021-2023) Sitti Bahaya Damsal will be the organising chairperson for the summit.
