Sabah to entice students, expats to boost tourism industry

Tourism Malaysia Sabah, in collaboration with Sabah Tourism Board, is launching the ‘Bah! Mari Pigi Sabah & Labuan Roadshow 2023,’ a week-long promotional tour to Peninsular Malaysia from May 22 to 27.

The roadshow will cover Selangor, Putrajaya, and Kuala Lumpur, targeting expatriates and students.

Among the educational institutions to be visited are Management and Science University (MSU) in Shah Alam, Sunway College and University in Kuala Lumpur and Nexus International School in Putrajaya.

A total of 36 participants, including tour agents, cultural troupes, and media representative will be part of the roadshow.

Tour operators from Sabah, Malaysia Airlines, and MASwings will offer tour packages during the roadshow.

The focus will be on B2B and B2C interactions, sustainable tourism talks, and updates on Sabah’s destinations.

Sabah Tourism Board will emphasize on community-based and rural tourism initiatives in Sabah, serving as a leading example in Malaysia.

The roadshow aims to raise awareness about sustainable practices for preserving Sabah’s tourism destinations for future generations.

Safina Yaakob, CEO of Future Forest International Sdn Bhd, will present a talk on sustainable tourism.

A ‘Get Together Dinner,’ will be held to highlight the attractions of Sabah and Labuan. It will be attended by representatives from the German Embassy in Malaysia, Tourism Malaysia and Sabah Tourism Board, as well as dignitaries, expats and corporates.
