KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair Sabah scheduled on April 3-5 at ITCC Penampang will proceed despite the constraint of the tour and travel industry due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
MATTA Sabah Chapter chairman Lawrence Chin (3rd right) believed the fair will bolster confidence and allay the fear to travel.
Plenty of attractive travel packages for domestics, Sarawak, Brunei and nearby countries are in store for the travellers to make their choices.
“We are targeting about 60 booths and the fair will also be a place to create awareness because we expect the market to pick up,” Chin said on Saturday, 29 Feb 2020 at MATTA Sabah Chapter Secretariat.
“We also hope the consumers will take note of the RM1,000 individual personal tax relief which MATTA has been asking for to stimulate the domestic market,” Chin said.
They will be writing to the government to make sure only licensed tour operators and hotels are selling stimulant packages to prevent unlicensed operators from taking advantage, he said.
Holidaymakers can book their domestic tours for the coming short and long terms breaks on May 1 (Labour’s Day); May 23 to June 7 (Hari Raya, Harvest Festival and school holidays) and July 25 to August 2 (school holidays).-HS
