KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Satta) is looking forward to work hand in hand with newly minted Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Dato Sri Tiong King Sing to rejuvenate the tourism industry.
Its Chairman Dato Seri Winston Liaw in congratulating Tiong on the appointment under the federal unity government hopes to see the latter mount more direct flights to East Malaysia.
“Sabah and Sarawak in particular depends very much on air connectivity to promote its tourism industry,” said Liaw.
“Dato Sri Tiong is a brave elected representative (YB) and had no hesitation to speak up against those who did not perform.
“We are sure he can lead our tourism industry to a brighter future for the benefit of the whole country,” said Liaw.
He said Tiong is also the Chairman of Malaysia-China Business Council (MCBC) as well as the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to China.
“As a Malaysian Chinese Member of Parliament, he will have a better grasp in terms of communication between Malaysia and China.
“We can facilitate in the areas of tourism, culture and other trade as well as commercial businesses “ said Liaw.
Sabah MCBC President Datuk Philip Yong had also appointed Liaw to be the National Advisor of MCBC for tourism and culture two years ago.
