The Borneo Rainforest Lodge (BRL) recently conducted its first responders’ cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills (CPR) training programme in the midst of the wilderness in Danum Valley.
The programme aimed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond effectively in emergency situations.
It is essential for individuals to know how to act during a medical emergency, focusing on recognizing situations that call for CPR, practicing hands-on CPR correctly, and learning the correct administration of a defibrillator.
The simple steps taught to ordinary bystanders, when administered correctly, are capable of saving lives by providing immediate medical assistance when necessary.
This programme also aims to empower individuals to act confidently and competently in emergency situations, increasing the likelihood of positive outcomes for those in need of assistance.
The lodge encourages refresher courses to keep skills practiced and up-to-date with the latest guidelines and best practices in emergency responses.
The training is highly regarded by the BRL team, serving as a reminder to other institutions that safety is a priority, and regular updates are essential.
