Chinese New Year welcoming activities were held at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) and Tawau Airport in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign.
Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin, officiated the ceremony at KKIA where arriving visitors were presented with mandarin oranges and goodie bags.
The programme featured a traditional yee sang tossing ceremony, a symbol of unity and prosperity.

Visitors also treated to a lion dance performance reflecting Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.
Representatives from Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad and members of the Sabah tourism industry attended the event.
Similar welcoming activities were conducted at 13 entry points in other states.
The airport engagements formed part of the Visit Malaysia 2026, including cultural presentations for arriving visitors during major festive periods.
