BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Palace Hotel Kota Kinabalu\nwas the only hotel in the whole of Borneo to won the ASEAN Green Hotel Standard\nAward 2020-2022 recently, from out of four hotels in Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony was held at the Empire Brunei, Brunei\non Jan 16, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award was a recognition by the Ministry of\nTourism, Culture and Art of Malaysia to reward the 4-star hotel strong efforts\nin promoting and upheld its environmentally friendly practices throughout its\npremises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hotel received a plaque and a certificate from\nthe ministry for fulfilling all the basic criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its general manager, Chloe Loo expressed her\nappreciation for receiving the award for the second consecutive time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis award came at a great time and will not doubt\nbe a motivation for all of us to produce more creative ideas to go green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur team has shown a lot of passion and drive to\ncontinue this meaningful journey where we can serve our guests and the\nenvironment with great sense of ownership,\u201d said the delighted Chloe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to her, The Palace Hotel is a green hotel\ncertified by the Malaysian Government due to its green management structure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also a non-smoking hotel accorded by the\nMinistry of Health Malaysia, with designated smoking area away from its\nimmediate vicinity to ensure guests enjoy the cleanest air possible, and also a\nlitter free hotel recognised by the Kota Kinabalu City Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the basic green practices brought out by\nthe hotel include the use of energy efficient light fixtures, the conservation\nof rainwater, non-toxic housekeeping practices, serving of local pesticide-free\nfood in their restaurant, and incorporating in-room recycling, reprocessing,\nand composting programs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEverything starts with a small step. We can start\nwith the 4Rs, (respect, reduce, reuse and recycle). We are grateful to be given\nthis platform to reach out to the greater public on the need to live green,\u201d Chloe\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cApart from aiming to further reduce our carbon\nfootprint, we are also working towards including more environmentally related corporate\nsocial responsibility projects, such as planting more mangrove trees and\nvisiting schools to educate children about living sustainably and responsibly,\u201d\nshe added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 4-star Palace Hotel is under the hospitality\narm of NPC Resources Berhad and strategically located in the heart of Kota\nKinabalu city centre on top of a hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
