{"id":572,"date":"2020-10-01T11:31:02","date_gmt":"2020-10-01T11:31:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/?p=572"},"modified":"2020-10-01T11:31:05","modified_gmt":"2020-10-01T11:31:05","slug":"matta-sabah-inspection-to-yit-foh-and-eco-yap-farm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/?p=572","title":{"rendered":"MATTA Sabah inspection to Yit Foh and Eco Yap Farm"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"425\" src=\"https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/matta1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-573\" srcset=\"https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/matta1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/matta1-300x159.jpg 300w, https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/matta1-768x408.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption>fun time at Yit Foh Coffee Park<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian\nAssociation of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Sabah Chapter has recently embarked\non a day trip to the interior areas to inspect the tourism products there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its honorary\nsecretary, Alicia Gomes who led the MATTA Sabah entourage said the purpose of\nthe brief sojourn was to get the latest updates of the touristic attractions in\nKeningau and Tenom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAlthough we are\nstill under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) to curb the spread of\nCOVID-19 infection, we still need to stay proactive to keep ourselves in the\nknow about the tourism products,\u201d Alicia said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tourism players\nneed to be creative nowadays to introduce more variety and choices for visitors\nto choose from instead of the traditional products such as the Tunku Abdul\nRahman Park and the Kinabalu Park, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the stopover,\nthe MATTA members visited the weekend bazaar ground and try some of the local\nfood in Tenom before proceeding to Yit Foh Coffee Factory Sdn Bhd to do product\ninspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yit Foh Coffee\nfounded by Yong Loong Vun in the 1960s is arguably the oldest and one of the most\nfamous coffee manufacturers in Sabah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overtime, his son\nAlex who took over the business in 1986, after his father passed away has\nupgraded the coffee factory with 12 chalets known as Yit Foh Coffee Park to\npromote overnight stay so that visitors can continue to explore the attractions\nin Tenom as they endeavour to develop rural tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The park sited on a\npiece of 7-acre land is boosted with a coffee house cum shop corner, a\nrestaurant, a coffee making factory and a single propeller plane, to remind visitors\ntheir \u2018Cap Kapal Terbang\u2019 brand coffee powder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After visiting the\ncoffee town, the entourage continued their journey to visit the Eco Yap Agriculture\nand Livestock Farm at Kampung Bomboi, Keningau at the invitation of owner Datuk\nYap Yun Fook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/matta2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-575\"\/><figcaption>Yap (left) sharing his almost 40 years experience of eco farming<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The objective of the\nvisit was to study the potential to promote agro tourism as the 150-hectare eco\nfarm has almost 40 years of interesting stories to share to visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yap who was on hand\nto brief the tourism players said today he owns more than 6,000 dairy cows after\nstarted off with only two in 1982,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overtime, he has diversified the dairy cow farm to rearing the empurau, tilapia and keli fish (at different location), goat, deer, crocodile, pineapple cultivation and organic vegetables farming.-HS<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Sabah Chapter has recently embarked on a day trip to the interior areas to inspect the tourism products there.
