{"id":53,"date":"2020-02-15T10:41:38","date_gmt":"2020-02-15T10:41:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/?p=53"},"modified":"2020-02-24T07:59:32","modified_gmt":"2020-02-24T07:59:32","slug":"satta-appeals-bank-to-suspend-loan-repayments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/?p=53","title":{"rendered":"SATTA appeals bank to suspend loan repayments"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/WinstonLiaw-884x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-54\" width=\"189\" height=\"218\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Association of Tour and Travel\nAgents (SATTA) has sought the assistance from the government to help ease their\nfinancial burden following the outbreak of the Wuhan coronavirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its chairman, Dato Seri Winston Liaw said SATTA has written\nto Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Christina Liew and Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong\nHin on Jan 31, asking both of them to help the industry players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have requested both of them to discuss with all banks to\ntemporarily suspend the existing loan repayments under travel agents or tourism\nindustry for six months,\u201d he told reporters after the launch of the taiji\ntraining shelter at Taman Ujana Rimba Tropika, off Penampang road yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The shelter was launched by Youth and Sports Minister Phoong\nJin Zhe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSince yesterday some of the financial institutions has\nresponded, I think BSN (Bank Simpanan Nasional), Public Bank and Ambank has\nalready approved to defer the loan repayments. We wish to thank all these banks\nfor responding to our plight,\u201d Liaw said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnd I urge all the other banks to follow suit, because in\nthis trying moment, we should all united together to over these difficulties\nbecause all the industry players are facing (financial) problems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf the organisations cannot sustain these six months, there\nwill be a lot lay off because the economy will be severely affected,\u201d he\nwarned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SATTA also thanked both Chan and Liew for responding to\ntheir request in helping to convey their message to Ministry of Finance so that\nimmediate action can be taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOtherwise, a lot of people will be out of job in the next\ntwo to three months. We urged the other banks that had not responded to our\nplight will follow soon to help all the industry players as virtually the whole\neconomy is affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe hope this coronavirus will be diminishing soon and from\nwhat I see if things are back to normal in June.
