KOTA BELUD: 29 September 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sabah has recorded 2.6 million visitor arrivals as of August and remains on track to meet its four-million target this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“With a stronger fourth quarter, I believe the target remains achievable,” Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the total, 1.1 million were international arrivals and 1.5 million were domestic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The State Government, he said, is committed to tourism growth that is competitive, inclusive and sustainable, as set out in the Sabah Tourism Blueprint. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The blueprint addresses flight connectivity, environmental protection and wider local participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Achieving these goals requires close collaboration between the public and private sectors,” Hajiji said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Sabah has extraordinary strengths, from its islands and beaches to its rainforests, mountains, wildlife, culture and cuisine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“With sound planning, professional management and effective marketing, we can share these strengths with more visitors while protecting the environment and respecting local communities.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was speaking at the opening of the JSK Mantanani Island Resort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The RM160 million resort, off Kota Belud, has 84 villas and eco-friendly facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I welcome its partnership with Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. Association with a globally recognised brand can introduce Mantanani to a wider market and support high standards,” Hajiji said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The benefits, he said, must extend beyond the resort itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Tourism can create jobs, build skills and open opportunities for local entrepreneurs, suppliers, transport providers and other businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I hope the resort’s success will be shared with the communities of Kota Belud and beyond.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ensuring local communities benefit is central to sustainable growth and a key thrust of the Sabah Maju Jaya development agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We must welcome visitors while protecting our natural and cultural heritage, so future generations can continue to enjoy Sabah,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The State Government is refining strategies to strengthen Sabah’s appeal ahead of Visit Sabah Year 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Visit Sabah Year 2027 is more than a tourism campaign, it is a shared agenda for the whole state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Its success depends on the commitment, cooperation and active participation of everyone, the government, industry players, the private sector, local communities and the people of Sabah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“By working together, we can strengthen Sabah’s position as a competitive, sustainable, world-class destination,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
