KOTA KINABALU: May 4, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening of Sheraton Kota Kinabalu marks a significant milestone in Sabah\u2019s tourism development, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the hotel, built at a cost of more than RM300 million, reflects strong investor confidence in the state despite global uncertainties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that several other hotel developments are also in the pipeline, including Avani, Fairfield by Marriott, Grandis at The Peninsula in Kota Kinabalu, Club Med in Kuala Penyu, InterContinental in Papar, and Wyndham in Semporna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese developments will add 2,740 rooms to our existing inventory, a testament to the resilience and optimism of our industry partners even in uncertain times,\u201d he said when officiating the opening of the hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hajiji said the expansion aligns with Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and will support preparations for Visit Sabah Year 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis momentum will now be extended to the end of 2027 and serve as a catalyst for Sabah\u2019s continued preparations for Visit Sabah Year 2027,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He expressed confidence that Sheraton Kota Kinabalu would play a key role in showcasing Sabah\u2019s culture, heritage and hospitality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt also sends a clear, confident message that Sabah is open for business and ready to compete on the global stage,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
