{"id":3666,"date":"2026-01-31T08:58:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-31T08:58:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/?p=3666"},"modified":"2026-01-31T08:59:24","modified_gmt":"2026-01-31T08:59:24","slug":"borneo-nature-tours-won-two-aseanta-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/?p=3666","title":{"rendered":"Borneo Nature Tours won two ASEANTA awards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Borneo Nature Tours won two top honours at the 35th ASEAN Tourism Association (ASEANTA) Tourism Awards of Excellence held in Cebu, the Philippines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The presentation ceremony on Jan 27 saw the Yayasan Sabah Group subsidiary secure the Best ASEAN Cultural Preservation Effort Award and the Best ASEAN Eco-Lodge Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br \/>The eco-lodge in Danum Valley, Lahad Datu, won two of the nine awards at stake, competing against leading lodges and hotels across Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Borneo Rainforest Lodge Chief Executive Officer Freddie Coleman, who accepted the awards, said the recognition further affirmed the lodge\u2019s credibility in delivering eco-nature experiences while preserving Borneo\u2019s forest and cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"911\" height=\"743\" data-id=\"3667\" src=\"https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/img-20260129-wa00056831898765336787718.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/img-20260129-wa00056831898765336787718.jpg 911w, https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/img-20260129-wa00056831898765336787718-300x245.jpg 300w, https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/img-20260129-wa00056831898765336787718-768x626.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 911px) 100vw, 911px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On cultural preservation, he said the lodge supports local communities by providing employment and training in line with international standards, while also backing various programmes and research centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor the long term, we strive to be a leader in nature tourism and to achieve sustainable development for the rainforest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ASEANTA comprises Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The awards serve as a platform to share best practices and encourage collaboration across the region\u2019s tourism industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proven initiatives are highlighted to support replication and adaptation across different ASEAN destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The regional evaluation process is conducted by tourism leaders from across Southeast Asia, with ASEANTA acting as custodian of the programme.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Borneo Nature Tours won two top honours at the 35th ASEAN Tourism Association (ASEANTA) Tourism Awards of Excellence held in Cebu, the Philippines.
