The Borneo Rainforest Lodge (BRL), nestled in Danum Valley, has always emphasised the importance of guests\u2019 safety during their stay in this pristine wilderness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For that, BRL, a subsidiary of The Yayasan Sabah Group of Companies has conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation training course recently for its staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The week-long course was held in collaboration between Lahad Datu Hospital and BRL, which has been slotted as an annual event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lahad Datu Hospital Director Dr. Andi Md Shamsureezal Mohd Sainal was present to support the practical training facilitated by orthopaedic specialists, medical emergency specialists, and medical officers from the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe training is aimed to maintain the confidence of safety in the Borneo Rainforest team should emergency situation arise,\u201d said BRL Director of Operation, Sail Jamaludin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The practical training included learning the skill as a first responder during an emergency, especially when the lodge is located a two-hour drive from the Lahad Datu Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe staff is trained on how to use the first aid kit, basic medication, and the use of the automated external defibrillator (AED) to assist people experiencing cardiac arrest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe team is also taught how to handle soft tissue injuries, wounds, fracture management, as well as introduction to different types of animal bites and how to manage them when confronted with such situations,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said a periodical refreshment of these skills is pertinent to ensure that the overall safety of the lodge and its guests is well ensured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As health and safety are the top priorities, the lodge provides an in-house clinic for in-house guests visiting the conservation area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
