KOTA BELUD: The Ulu Look Lungsung Beach in Rampayan Laut Village is yet another beautiful place blessed with turquoise blue water and white sandy beach that is beckoning visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The picturesque beach is located 3\nkilometres away from the town here and the visitors will have to drive through\na hilly terrain to get there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a perfect place for the visitors\nto get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life and traffic congestion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pristine environment offers a place\nfor visitors to enjoy the sea breeze, hiking, relaxing and carry out recreational\nactivities at the beachfront.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, there are lots of rubbish\nbeing dumped indiscriminately at the beach, thus prompted the Sabah Women\nVoluntary and Welfare Society to initiate a community get together cleanliness\nprogramme recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The society has been cooperating with\nBeras Nasional Berhad to carry out the programme themed \u2018healthy is enjoyable\u2019 which\nwas led by Tempasuk community development leader Ladim Abd Rahman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Near the beach there are two islets called\nKeramat Island, said Ladim whose parents are originated and grew up in Rampayan\nLaut Village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both his parents knew all about the\nvillage and island like the back of their hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And based on the mystery tales handed\ndown by his parents, he said there are some intriguing incidents happened in\nthe island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And among the most frequently told stories\nwere how the sea would turn into rough with high waves if the visitors took\nanything back from the island or the sour calamansi would turn bitter taste, he\nshared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the island is also a\nplace for some villagers to cast their magic spells on other people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unpolluted waters surrounding the island\nare also teeming with variety of marine live and edible plant such as seagrass which\nis locally known as lato. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ladim who is also fondly known as Pak\nJoko hoped the village community will cooperate together to improve the road\nleading to the beach and maintain its cleanliness at all times so that the\nplace can be promoted as a tourism destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also hoped that the district office will include the village in their directory as one of the tourism destinations in Kota Belud.-HS<\/p>\n\n\n\n
