{"id":1143,"date":"2022-09-24T08:08:10","date_gmt":"2022-09-24T08:08:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/?p=1143"},"modified":"2022-09-24T08:08:11","modified_gmt":"2022-09-24T08:08:11","slug":"india-travel-agents-explore-sabah-as-new-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/?p=1143","title":{"rendered":"India travel agents explore Sabah as new market"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"478\" src=\"https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/IMG-20220924-WA0023.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1142\" srcset=\"https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/IMG-20220924-WA0023.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/IMG-20220924-WA0023-300x140.jpg 300w, https:\/\/holidaysabah.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/IMG-20220924-WA0023-768x359.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Jonistion (third, left) mingles with the Indian travel agents.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>KOTA KINABALU\/Sept 24: A group of 32 travel agents from India has embarked on a four-day familiarisation tour to Sabah from Sept 23-26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group who was part of the 543 members of Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) arrived here on Friday after attending the TAFI Conference held in Kuching, Sarawak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by Western India Chapter of TAFI Chairman Jitul Mehta, the group has chosen Sabah as their post-conference excursion to explore the state as their new destination market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sabah Tourism Board hosted a welcoming dinner to the visiting guests at a hotel here on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sabah Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said Indian market has always been part of Sabah Tourism Board\u2019s target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before the Covid-19 pandemic struck, the arrivals of Indian\u2019s tourists to Sabah was gradually picking up from 5,606 people in 2018, to 6,548 people the following year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was noted that Indian tourists love the beaches, islands, resorts, diving, wildlife and cultures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joniston said Sabah also hope to lure Indian filmmakers to the state which is a very sought after destination for producing documentaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joniston said Indian tourists can travel to Sabah via Singapore with 14 flights&nbsp;weekly to Kota Kinabalu while there are 23 flights weekly via Kuala Lumpur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Mehta expressed hopeful the group&#8217;s visit to Sabah would be informative and enlightening as many members only heard or read about the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are optimistic that we could bring more Indian tourists to Sabah and perhaps, by working together, we might make direct flights a reality,\u201d he said.-HS<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KOTA KINABALU\/Sept 24: A group of 32 travel agents from India has embarked on a four-day familiarisation tour to Sabah from Sept 23-26.
