503 tour and travel agencies will get one-off assistance

KOTA KINABALU: Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin has announced the Sabah government has approved to give one-off assistance to 503 tour and travel agencies in Sabah starting next week.

The assistance amounting more than RM2 million are eligible for tour and travel agencies registered with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

Each agency will get RM4,000 and it is part of the Sabah New Deal allocation for MICE activities.

“This assistance is to show our appreciation to the tour and travel agencies contributions towards tourism industry over the years,” said Jafry (pix)

The assistance was the outcome of several meetings held between the Tourism Ministry and the tour and travel agencies.

With the assistance, he hoped the tourism entrepreneurs would be able to reactivate their businesses after the government lifted the ban on inter-district travelling starting on December 7.

He reminded the tour operators to always adhere to the standard operating procedures issued by the government to boost the tourists confidence.-HS
